when i started reading it i was just like "wow this shit if fucking lame and mostly retarded" but somewhere in the first 10 chapters i decided to thoroughly enjoy it, probably once i got used to the add-ins and the not-quite-matched language

I am halfway through it and I'm having the same issue. It seems like it tries too hard and fall flat in the writing style and satire.
