Hacks star Jean Smart has urged networks to forgo airing upcoming Hollywood awards shows and donate to the victims of the L.A. wildfires and firefighters

I think they should air the shows and used them as fundraisers.

I think that's a great idea.

Unfortunately I doubt that would happen. At most I could see them donating a small percentage to either the fire department OR to those who have lost their homes.

That's actually a better idea. Don't these award shows make money from ads? How can they make advertising money if it's not aired?

They should also forget the dress code because honestly, whatever most celebs have planned has likely burned down with their house. :(

When was the last giant celeb fundraiser/telethon style show? Was it covid?
And don’t call tom, dick, and harry. I wanna hear steve martin calling lorne michaels, jack nicholson, scorsese, their agents, lawyers, and ask them to donate.

yes, and honestly production people desperately need work after the strikes. While I appreciate what she is saying, jobs are what will keep this city going during this terrible time.
