From writers to singers to actors and beyond, there’s long been a trope that creatives are so filled with passion and emotion that they just can’t help but spread their love around. Of course, people of all kinds can and do cheat, but artists have spearheaded this trope to some degree in the popular culture because they keep making art about them ( Read more... )

I think her career will be fine cause being the other woman and flaunting that attitude is pretty much accepted as part of her brand at this point.

But it is funny that Ariana will always have that Naya Rivera’s callout from her book, break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored/yes and?, and now the Lilly Jay’s article follow her everytime she engages in an affair lol. Cause that’s been my TL for the past 2 days!! She deserves that and more!!

Although my fave was “she’ll steal your man but not your land” after she raised money for Palestine 🖤😂😂😂☁️

i get why it’s uninteresting to a lot of people but tbh a while ago i had sort of a click moment about adultery as a common trope in art, which is that on a fundamental level it’s an easily legible way to set up a conflict between what you (the protagonist) feel you are supposed to want/do and what you (the protagonist) actually want. that is, like… a vein of inner conflict that is easy to mine for drama (in the sense of like “a narrative rooted in competing desires” not like “lol dramaaaaaa”). not all adultery narratives are done well ofc and to some people it’s inherently uninteresting and that’s totally fine. and there are ofc many other ways to tell this kind of story. but that was a bit of an “ohh” moment for why writers keep writing about it lol. (but i am perhaps inclined to be generous as one of my favorite novels of all time is an adultery narrative, among other things, lol)

LOL this my first thought when I saw the post title. It's a trope because of the innate conflict (internal/external) and extreme emotions.

She’s going to look like a gollum with all the plastic surgery she’s going to do. Body dysphoria is going to hit her like a Mack truck cuz I can just see her be in denial with aging too.

I think turning 30 is why she was so messy with this one. She desperately needed to know that she "still had it".

Hmmm.

I watched the whole thing, and still hmmm. Artists often mine their own lived experiences (or that of people they know) and use it in their work....who knew? I especially hate the abrupt ad placement in the middle of the video.

Going for a dude with a newborn baby at home is a choice and I will judge it celebrity or not. A similar thing happened to my colleague tbh (she was ariana in this situation) but he went back to his wife after a couple of months so my colleague got so drunk in response that firefighters had to axe her front door to check on her.

I feel bad for his wife for having low enough self-esteem to take him back. Never go back.

have seen a lot of people around me either cheat or be cheated on to understand that at the end of the day, no one wins in affairs
