i watched conclave. i was loving it until the plot twist which i thought was incredibly stupid. and for the life of me i have no clue why isabella rossellini is getting any award attention

Yeah, I think for Isabella, she's fishing for a career award more than anything about her role in this specific film, which was fine but kind of unremarkable.

I liked her one big scene but it's not enough to earn awards a claim imo...

I also thought the twist was dumb as hell but I weirdly still liked the ending? I think I was willing to forgive since I had enjoyed it so much to that point.

yeah, that's basically how I felt, too! lol

I am still shocked it's such a big awards contender, mostly because it's so unserious.

I knew what the plot twist would be going in and [Spoiler (click to open)] I was very worried it would be mishandled or played too much for shock value, so when I saw that it was handled with care and a lovely, touching little monologue I came back around to liking it.

i read the book first and felt like it was explored more there but yeah, it did not land the same for me on screen.
