- The National Film Registry announced the 25 titles being added this year, about a quarter of them from the 80s. They represent the diversity of American filmmaking, genres ranging from biopics like Pride of the Yankees and The Miracle Worker to horror with Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and firsts like Jessie Maple’s Will, the first feature-length film directed by a black woman as well as Loretta Devine’s first movie role.

- Cheech Marin has two films entering the registry, Up In Smoke and Spy Kids. The iconic kids movie is one of three 21st century films being added, alongside The Social Network and No Country for Old Men.
