I can't believe we're going to be stuck with Pierre fucking Poilievre, probably sooner rather than later.

Also can't believe Doug Ford is actually speaking logic with wanting to push back against tariffs, and not surprised at all at Danielle Smith just rolling over and taking it. She'd sell us off to Trump if she could.

When Trudeau goes Ford will be among the longest standing provincial Premiers, and one of the ones who governed through the Trump years.

We can't count on him to be a leader though, he'll sell us out too.

What a sad state we're in that Ford is the long term one lol.

Canada is sorely lacking in any real leadership at any level though let's be real.

I just want to take some space to say that I love mayor Olivia Chow and am so glad she's Torontos mayor.

I'm surprised Doug is being so forceful with Trump but I feel like he feels personally betrayed because he's such a Trump fan and that didn't save him from being targeted by tariffs

Probably. Spite driven. At least it's something though. AB is spending money to buff up our border and just boot licking.

it's wild to me that not one conservative premier has challenged Trump on the border thing and pointed out how many guns come in through the US-Canada border. instead she just rolls over and acts like Trump has a good point.

Because they all want to be Trump's cronies. Especially Smith. She's living her own mini project 2025 here. Taking away power from municipalities, dismantling public health care, putting a stop to all renewable energy projects, the whole attack on trans youth (especially trans girls/women). She's even slipped and referred to herself as governor.

ugh, absolutely terrifying that these people are in power and enacting their fascist agendas. and she called herself governor? go move to the US like Jordan Peterson and leave us alone

Jason Kenny was awful but I don't remember ever feeling the same sense of dread with him as I do with Smith. Especially now with Trump and very likely PP at the federal level. Shit's gonna get really bad before it gets better it feels. God help us if Trump and Putin get too buddy buddy with us in the middle.

the fact that Jason Kenney called her an extremist before she got elected was terrifying to me tbh since he's such a staunch Harper man himself, she's gotta be the worst premier in Canada and she has stiff competition from Ontario and Saskatchewan. this is a terrifying reality we're in that most of Canada is governed by the right. BC only narrowly avoided voting in similarly unhinged politicians

Funny thing is he's just responding like Trump would if he was in this position so I mean... taste of his own medicine, I guess.

Ford isn't just Trumpian, he IS Trump - a privileged rich kid with abusive dead daddy issues and no way to ever get the approval they never got, while simultaneously deploying every bit of the abusive power their families used to shank everyone else around them.

But Ford (to my disgust) is also smarter, enough to know that Trump doesn't respect the yes men - he respects fellow bullies. You don't get anywhere with Trump by softhanding him, you show your force (and you don't make it personal about him) until someone close to Trump tells him it's easier to play nice with you.
