I was waiting till the roundup to talk about this, I can't believe someone just made a post about it.

Laughing to stop from crying. Trudeau is fucked. I admire Chrystia Freeland brazenly shanking Trudeau in the face on the way out. I always thought she would be a future PM and this shows she could do it. They were so closely aligned only a split like this would secure her future.

Literally I don't care about a party imploding except we all know the Conservatives will win and Pierre Polievre is a deranged nitwit who cozies up to Nazis.

Also I'm sad we're not getting our bribe cheques. The only thing stupider than announcing them is announcing them and then yanking them back.

Not enough people on the other side like her unfortunately. She's got the balls to tackle the job, but wouldn't sway voters from other parties. I don't think anyone really could in the current liberal party.

Sounds like he and Trump are a match made in heaven! The US/Canada relationship will be stronger than ever, I guess. lmao.

Good lord, everything is terrible.

This was our worst case scenario, Trump winning in the US and Pierre’s inevitable win here soon. Both of them are fascist. It’s going to be very chaotic

By 'stronger than ever,' d'you mean Trump will follow through on his proclaiming 'the state of Canada' several times in the last few weeks, and annex the country - and that spineless Poilièvre will sell out the country to let it happen? Cuz that's where shit is heading atm...

walking back the bribe cheques is so stupid especially since Ford is giving people $200 in Ontario. I guess they realize they're gonna lose no matter what

I'm so annoyed about Ford's bribe cheques as well. Imagine if he redirected all of that money into our healthcare system?

oh but we have no money for healthcare, we have to pay to build a giant spa no one wants!!! (that's really a front for a casino)

Honestly, when I first heard about the spa plans I figured it would be a front for at least one thing, if not multiple.

exactly. he's always wanted a casino at ontario place and now he's found his front

Sigh. Who could have possibly known that Canada's largest city electing a domestic abuser with a history of drug and alcohol problems as mayor and Canada's largest province electing his brother (and vengeful failed mayoral candidate for that same city) as premier would have backfired on us all.

right? well done, Ontario. the Ford Nation clown show continues. at this rate his nephew will be mayor at some point.

Wait. I’m a little out of date. We don’t get the bribe cheques because it didn’t pass but why are they giving us an HST break?

They initially presented just the GST break and tabled the bribe cheques for later, but the NDP has said that they wouldn’t support the cheques unless the eligibility is expanded to include groups like seniors, and obviously the Liberal party themselves are not all in agreement on the bribe cheques to begin with and now there’s the big budget deficit, so it’s probably completely dead.

Thank you! I honestly thought it was strange that they didn’t include basically every citizen to be eligible for the pay checks.

I always thought she would be a future PM and this shows she could do it.I would disagree. While it is unfair that people remember her gaffes more than they would remember those of a man, she's had a few major ones that people are neither going to forgive nor forget. Honestly, all this really showed is that she's got a sense of self preservation, which is still more than most people in the current government, but it's too little too late on her part. Even just last week she was still was nodding along in support of the current government like the rest of the Liberal clowns. She was also never qualified to be Finance Minister (not that having qualifications actually matters; unqualified men got the post as well). Unfortunately for her, however, her successes as a Trade Minister will be eclipsed by her incompetence as the Finance Minister during a very challenging time economically. She should have never been offered the post, yes, but nor should she have accepted it ( ... )
