I have decided this is an annual ONTD tradition now. I make a post about K-dramas I watched over the past year and solicit everyone else's favorite dramas and we all have a good time etc etc. The last couple of years, I think I did best and worst dramas, but TBH, this year, I didn't really watch anything BAD. I really loved Lovely Runner when I'm usually not a fan of youth drama.

I just don't know what is it with that drama, it just HITS.

exaaaaactly. it's so hard to explain why Lovely Runner worked for me, but it just DID.

Lovely Runner is hilarious lol, so much fillers and slapstick comedy that has nothing to do with the plot (and usually that annoys me) but it's so damn funny I end up not skipping them

The way they marketed it...I still can't decide whether it was genius or a disservice lol because it was definitely NOT what I thought it would be (in a superrrrrr good way) and I was so so so pleasantly surprised. I guess with its success it was genius but I'm sure there were some people who read the synopsis or watched the trailers who were like "oh a cliched k-drama story where a fan is in love with her idol and he ends up falling for her too" no, thanks.

I dropped QoT for Lovely Runner and I am glad I did lol. I started Lovely Runner largely in part due to Kim Hye Yoon and how silly the trailers were.

Yes, you're onto something. The show set up specific expectations and then exceeded them 1000%.
