Gladiator 2 is getting...fine reviews, but a few people noted that lead Paul Mescal was maybe not the right casting for a big action blockbuster role

LOL! report back and tell me if gladiator 2 is worth watching. the reviews are kinda off-putting which is why i was originally planning to go and now i'm not so sure. i already promised to take my sister to wicked this weekend and moana 2 the next weekend anyway.

yeah, the brutalist being almost 4 hours long is what gives me doubts about people's confidence in its oscar chances. people turned out for oppenheimer and killers of the flower moon last year because they had trust that nolan and scorsese wouldn't waste their time, but are people really going to trust that brady corbet isn't going to waste their 4 hours? i'm very sure at this point the brutalist will not win best picture, something like anora or conclave that's more of a crowd pleaser will win instead. but i could see adrien brody still winning even if the brutalist doesn't win. i want ralph fiennes or daniel craig (even though i haven't seen queer yet) to win instead lol!

i remember last year people called killers of the flower moon "passionless" but it had a 4.2+ letterboxd score throughout awards season and it only dropped to 4.07 after an entire year. the brutalist isnt even out yet, it's still just screening at festivals i think, but its letterboxd score has already dropped from 4.2+ right after venice to 4.10. by the time it actually comes out in theaters it will probably be lower than killers of the flower moon. if killers of the flower moon couldn't come close to best picture, the brutalist won't either imo.
