Gladiator 2 is getting...fine reviews, but a few people noted that lead Paul Mescal was maybe not the right casting for a big action blockbuster role

I don’t think anyone from the new generation is a movie star tbh.

I haven’t seen Gladiator 2 but I’ve seen people who’ve seen it say their issue with Paul’s casting was that he didn’t come off like someone you would follow into battle. But that was the exact same issue I had with Timothée in Dune 2 towards the end-he wasn’t physically imposing and wasn’t someone I would follow into battle either. I feel like there aren’t any younger male actors who really fit the bill.

Yeah Timothee is absolutely not leading man material lol. At least not for that kind of movie.

I’ve said it before here but in their limited screen time Austin and Lea completely outshined Timothee and Zendaya. And I didn’t even think those two were bad! But Austin and Lea just brought IT and were so magnetic on screen

When I watched Dune 2, I couldn't get over how it looked like a mildly ambitious breeze could knock Timothée right over.

Since Dune 1 I’ve been yelling that his skinny ass could never make a warrior, it’s been frustrating to watch!

I don't think he looked imposing in Dune 2 but it was more what he was saying that I felt was inspiring. I got chills and I'm a Timmy disliker

I don't know if he counts as "younger" but, in spite of the white boyness of it all, I feel like Glen Powell DOES have that star power missing from the rest of the current crop. His charisma is off the charts.

Thing is, what actor in their 20s was considered a star? I feel like everyone we talk about who were the last movie stars are all in their 60s now.

I also may be stuck in the misconception of time where the 90s were ten years ago.
