I completely forgot about “The Straight Story.” Will have to give it a watch.

there was talk in the town about what was going on over there on that side of the street, and that’s between him and God. I ain’t got nothing to do with that. I pray for him. That’s between him and his maker.
I am trying to figure out what he means there.

I hate American Beauty with a passion EXCEPT the score. It’s what made me fall in love with Thomas Newman and was weirdly a comfort during a tough time.

He's referring to the underage parties and other vile things Kevin and others were doing. Proof positive that a lot of celebs know when others are grimy and keep their side of the street clean by avoidance because I've never heard of Denzel and certain other notable Black celebs attending Diddy parties, not even the famed Black/White balls.

It's so infuriating that there were rumors/"jokes" for YEARS about basically every big celeb who later went on to (sort of) face consequences for this shit -- Spacey, Weinstein, Diddy, Cosby, etc. It's easier to just dismiss it as salacious gossip and make shitty jokes than to actually look into what's happening. And with Spacey, there was the added element of homophobia. The social system is set up to help these guys get away with everything.

Tbh I wonder if there’s any rumors on the downlow re: Leonardo DiCaprio/ Tobey McGuire etc. Especially since both partied with Diddy and Leo likes them young….

Thomas Newman wrote such a beautiful score that I think it fooled a lot of people into thinking the rest of the movie was better than it was.

Richard Farnsworth's performance in The Straight Story was fantastic. I still remember the scene in the bar with his monologue- that moment hit me particularly hard.
