Definitely agree. I worked with a woman who would be sitting at her desk wincing and doubling over with pain, and a hot water bottle pressed to her at all times, and this would happen for at least a couple of days a week - often more. She shouldn’t have had to be at work in that state, but she had no choice. This was pre-Covid so there wasn’t even any way she could work at home where she could at least be a bit more comfortable, as my employer never allowed that until the pandemic came along and they were forced to.

People who haven’t experienced it are so dismissive - even when it’s not (diagnosed) endo and it’s “just” bad period pain. I saw a thing on Instagram last week about how the pain of periods can be more painful than a heart attack and there was a study that confirmed this, and the comments were full of WOMEN going “Well that’s not true, my period pain isn’t bad at all, I just get on with it, other women need to stop being babies blah blah blah.” Like if even other women don’t take the pain of a faulty reproductive system seriously, what hope do we have?

It infuriates me that women's pain isn't taken seriously - in fact it's outright DISMISSED so easily, by general public and doctors.

I get so mad when I see other women saying what you mention. Like great, lucky you. But a.) show some damn empathy, and b.) if extreme women's PAIN isn't being taken seriously wth makes you think the rest of our/your healthcare is? This impacts all of us, get on board

I can never get my head around why so many people can’t seem to understand that not everyone’s experiences of things are the same as theirs. As a society, we are so lacking in empathy that it’s almost pathological.
