Susan is annoying, but Tom is the accidental villain for me. Horrible husband.

Seriously!!! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Doug Savant was almost too perfectly cast because Tom was the wooooooorst but Doug is so cute and charming. I was hoodwinked, bamboozled etc

oh my GOD. im sorry cause im about to rant but i literally just finished the show two days ago and i despised tom at the end. like all of the shit lynette sacrificed for him and he has the nerve to tell her she's selfish??? like oh fuck off tom. i literally could not with him. dude almost bankrupted the family for his impromptu pizza joint and then sold it without telling his wife. i would've seriously thought about divorce if i had been lynette. oh and dont get me started on lynette wanting two kids but being pushed into like 5 and tom guilting her into being a stay at home mom just for him to use it against her later.

i didn't actually hate him the first few seasons but after the time jump/around season six his hypocrisy so was irritating.

And what’s worse is that the show was adamant that Lynette was controlling and always got her own way, when Tom always got what he wanted. All he had to do was play the “emasculated” card and Lynette folded.

seriously that writing bugged me so much. it happened so many times where lynette was called out for her faults. and look im not saying lynette was perfect by any means. she was too controlling imo. however, tom literally never changed. he never got called out like she did. he almost never apologized like she did (or at least without being prompted). and he never really evolved the entire show. i could've known this show had been written by a man just by the dynamic of lynette and tom cause she just constantly was being blamed and apologizing for everything.

also it's wild to me that one of lynette's first major plot points was that she was very talented at her job, and significantly better than tom and yet by the end of the series that's magically forgotten
