Are most of these sequels? They really sound like sequels LOL.
But I am reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ruins_of_Ambrai (which deserves a wiki page link over Goodreads given how much is going on in this book with 600+ pages and tiny ass font) LOL. It's 30 years old, the first in an incomplete trilogy (no third book), and was a teen favorite. I'm like 60 pages in and that took several hours to get that far because the font is for ants. And it's science fantasy which is A+ in my book.
edit: lmao that first book legit says BOOK ONE on the cover but that plot description sounds like a sequel 100%.
In your defense, the first book also says it's "a Crowns of Nyaxia novel" and is in fact a sequel...series in the same universe, from what I can tell anyway.
I Ship My Rival x Me is finally out! My copy was supposed to be here today, but it was delayed, boooo.
And Semantic Error is out today as well! I ran to the bookstore to grab a copy, and they had I Ship My Rival x Me in stock! I figured they wouldn’t get it, which is why I preordered it!!
I'm reading Blood Over Bright Haven by M. L. Wang right now. I don't know how I feel. Super interesting world building, beautiful prose, I understand the central themes wrt unfettered capitalism/racism/xenophobia. I just want someone to spoil me on if the main characters get together or not without spoiling me on anything else. That will decide if I continue or not.
I loved Blood Over Bright Haven though, and, coincidentally, The Broken Binding just announced a special edition today that is very stunning and very much coming home to my shelves.
Then just sit down and write! It doesn't matter if your first draft is shit (trust me - I am working on like my 10th manuscript at least and this draft so far is mostly just the two leads being whiny and making out instead of focusing on the real story) but just the act of creation is really fulfilling. It doesn't matter if nobody else ever reads it, you are allowed to write for you.
i am the OPPOSITE. I love writing, love getting fancy and playing with narrative voices and tones and shit. hate every idea i've ever had. at the moment i'm just getting real creative with the session notes for my dnd group. they'll regret naming me scribe.

I finished:
Never Lie - Freida McFadden, I liked it well enough. I was invested in the mystery that I liked reading it.
Tom Sawyer - It's good, I appreciate it more as an adult
Living Dead in Dallas - I was shocked Layfette is a throw away character in the book series tbh.
Shadows - Robin McKinley, it's okay but not that good tbh. It started to lose me a bit & the world building wasn't great.
Current reading: Masters of Death - Olive Blake, it's better than the Atlas Six so far.
