"Few artists debut with a shout-out from the World Health Organization, but Big Ocean isn’t your ordinary K-pop group. When they launched their career almost seven months ago on Korea’s Day of People with Disabilities, Hyunjin, Chanyeon, and Jiseok made history as the first deaf K-pop group."

- Chanyeon: Lost hearing as a teen, has bilateral cochlear implants.
- Hyunjin: Diagnosed with hearing loss at age 4, cochlear implant in left ear and wears a hearing aid in his right.
- Jiseok: Born deaf, grew up wearing hearing aids and using Korean Sign Language (KSL)
- They sign in KSL, American Sign Language (ASL), and International Sign Language (ISL)
- their fandom (PADO) donated money to Gallaudet to honor Big Ocean’s 100-day anniversary
