Episode 8 is the fall finale and it won't return until March AFAIK :(
I think most fans, if we can't have the throuple, want Max/Tristan LMAO. In episode 3, it gets heavily hinted that Max isn't 100% straight (if you hadn't already gotten that hint from, idk, the entire show - this show is heavy-handed about everything, which just ups the cheesy camp factor). But yes, the horniest by far is Avery, and she clearly wants both of them very early on, which is weird given she didn't want Tristan in the years they've known each other until suddenly Max shows up and now she's like "Give me everything!" But alas, a lot of fans did this in episodes 6 and 7:
But then the preview for episode 8 brings an entire new level of WHAT to the PREVIEW so we are hopeful that they will give us something incredibly insane to tide us over until March.

But I still don't know who the crew are on this ship aside from these three and Don Johnson!
I saw the episode 8 preview and decided I needed to watch LOL.

Yeah, this show is speed-running five seasons worth of plots in 8 episodes, it's insane.
At some point, they do introduce a few recurring side characters, the most important of which is in episode 4, but she then proceeds to vanish from episodes 6 and 7 and she doesn't have much of a personality, but she's introduced as a love interest for Tristan who promptly forgets about her and runs back to Avery, but she was in the episode 8 preview LOL. There is also the first mate, the engineer, and the head of housekeeping.
This show just straight up WANTS you to ship them as a throuple, though, and acknowledges that in episode 7 in an interesting way. People kept calling throuple and the show straight acknowledged "Yep, that's what we want you to think!" haha, so I give the show props for that. They want you to think you want them all to fuck, and so far the only part of the triangle that hasn't yet is Max/Tristan... Unless they did and it was off screen episode 7, but we don't know what happened there other than "it was fun".

I'm sticking it out until episode 8 because when this show is cringeworthy, it has a moment where I laugh so loudly because it's honestly insanely stupid, and then go back to cringing. But I like that it's harmless and silly and doesn't require me to think that much.
Hopefully they have another threeway where the swords touch.
Edited to say I'm reading episode reactions on Reddit and I definitely like the idea of the ship being heaven/purgatory and everyone is dead. It makes it more fun.

Oh, she is gonna go right back to Max, but only after Max coerces Tristan into "allowing" Max to pursue her LOL. As I said, it is speed-running plots at an insane rate. How else do you think by episode 6 we would get what made this show suddenly very popular among ONTDers and our ilk? Some shows make you wait until season 6+ for the will they/won't they. This show gives it to you EPISODE 6. Well, beyond the fact that Avery is having sex with both of them on her own time from episode 1 LOL.
My dad watches this show now and tomorrow he is going to be watching episode 6 which is the episode that caused me to pick it up and I have told him that so I am going to be hardcore judged tomorrow when he finishes.
There was another theory people had after episode 3 - that Max is the only one in a coma and Avery and Tristan are his main nurses in the hospital LMAO, but idk about that. I also had the theory of "Is this just San Junipero but on a ship and nobody knows?" as in the Black Mirror episode. Which would be related to the "Is everyone dead?" or more specifically "Is Max dead?" theory. Or in a coma. Or this is a fever dream. Or they're in a snow globe.

Every time they open an episode, they say that the ship is heaven and that Max is here to "keep everyone alive"… But if they are dead… Maybe he is there to keep their souls alive. IDK. I can see the theory that Avery and Tristan are his nurses, but I like the idea of everyone being dad better. The ship is so brightly lit, too, which gives it a heavenly feel. (There has to be something more to the show if it's netted Joshua, Don, and guest stars like Shania Twain…)
I like that medicine is second (or third, really) on this show. I tried watching The Resident and was bored, and we still have Grey's. At least this is fun.

This goes over a lot of the theorizing, and this came out after only two episodes so people have been committed to the "is this a dream?" theory from episode one, which isn't hard given how many times they said "heaven" or "illusion" etc.

PLASTICS WEEK IS MAKING ME SCREAM.

I think people are afraid that if it suddenly tries to be Lost, it will lose what made it what it was to begin with. And tbh, that's accurate - that is going to be one massive tonal shift if suddenly he figures out he didn't recover from COVID after all. I mean, it will basically be a completely new show in a way, given how silly and campy it is. Could it successfully pull off that switch to being science fiction or fantasy? IDK, it would be hard for real, but interesting if they could pull it off. My dad started watching because I told him it looked like it might be attempting to do Lost, but campier LOL. But why is everything in the medical center gold? The SYRINGES are gold, the IV poles are gold, the vital monitor is gold. Everything is bright and shiny. It's just so weird LOL, but I mean, it could be that post-election malaise has driven me nutty, but I am LIVING for this show the past week. This show has consumed my life as I try and forget what is happening in reality, and I am at the present moment fine with that.
