I shower every other day because I have such dry skin, but only if I don't work out that day or something. Showering every day in winter is a recipe for my already terrible eczema cracking and bleeding no matter how much I slather myself in lotion after.

I feel this so so much it's a bummer.
I do make sure to clean my bits and pits on the days I dont step in the shower though.

My parents were raised in a country where constant running water wasn't a thing for them so I've very much been taught how to stay clean even if that doesn't mean stepping in the shower.

Yeah, I genuinely feel my skin has been far healthier without daily showers. I am a person that doesn't sweat a lot though and tends to have dry skin. I definitely know people who are not like that and feel much more comfortable showering daily.

Imo the amount of bathing you gotta do IS individual (just like hair care) and mostly people should just be considerate of others? Like bathe regularly as needed for your skin type and also before formal events of things where you'll be packed in close with others.

Getting prissy about a specific schedule mostly just hurts people who can't bathe due to circumstances (homelessness, depression, whatever) OR who bathe daily and still get sweaty easily, while doing very little to change the behavior of people who don't care.

Yeah, same here. If I do work out two days in a row, I shower after both obviously, but otherwise I will not shower daily. My skin hates it and I don't see the point. I'm not walking around all stinky and dirty, I literally have an office job that three days a week doesn't even require me to leaving the house, and the other two days have me sitting in an air conditioned office for most of the day.

Same. Occasionally I can shower every day if I need too but regularly? My eczema goes mad. Behind my ears especially. Ew.

Only time I can shower every day and get away with it is if it is consistently above 80F. One year ago today I flew to Miami for a cruise and in the proceeding almost two weeks going to Aruba/etc my eczema really enjoyed the constant humidity enough that a bad spot had healed far more than it would have in the dry cold at home.

my face looks terrible after a shower. i’m on day 3 no shower, and my red rosacea is barely visible. as soon as i shower with even just water no face wash, my skin gets irritated and bumpy and i hate it. i use cetaphil red skin issues or whatever, i recently tried la roche something but that gave me huge demons on my chin. ugh

When I get out of the shower/bath, idk what it is - shampoo, soap, the water itself, who knows - but I have angry red splotches on my back, shoulders, and legs. They go away after like 30 minutes, but still, it's hard out there if you have skin issues!

Story of my life. And it's cold in the winter so you want hot water....which makes the problem even worse.

That used to be me and my eczema but actually showering every day in lukewarm water, using dial soap on my patches before a sensitive body wash on and then making sure I’m putting aquaphor on my skin, especially my patches, almost immediately after the shower while my skin is still slightly wet so it soaks far in actually helped with clearing those patches that stayed after I got the really bad stuff under control. I feel like my skin gets worse when I’m not consistently taking care of it in the ways I know work for me regardless of the season. And sometimes a breakout can let me know how stressed or off balance emotionally I actually am or how bad I’m eating. Eating more meat has given me break outs oddly enough. So I hope you continue to find what works for you <3 it was so hard to deal with my skin cracked and bleeding, let alone that the worst of it was my face! Just ugh. Can’t believe I don’t have any scarring and it’s as nice as it is now. So it can definitely heal and get better! Don’t feel like it never will!

I do a coat of jojoba oil on my face and use a shower oil/cleansing oil or this glycerin wash from target to keep me from having flares of rosacea and eczema - the cost of products I have to use during the winter is like triple what it is for the rest of the year I hate it

Same! If i showered every day, my skin would just turn to sandpaper. Painful, painful sandpaper.

Weirdly enough I tend to have worst eczema in hot weather. But having eczema ia an absolute nightmare. Don't know if you already tried but shower oil can be a good option for cleaning without further damaging the skin

I've tried it before but I will take another look, thanks!
