it'll be five years in march since my last cigarette, and in spite of the warnings and knowing how gross, stinky, and bad for you body it is, i still miss them

I quit over a decade ago, but I think my nostalgia for it petered out somewhere around year 6.

April was my 15th anniversary of quitting and even though i don't miss them really, I will still occasionally have this recurring dream that I have this pack of cigarettes I'm chain-smoking and I'm telling everyone i see, "oh, it's okay, i quit years ago, I just got this pack given to me and didn't want to waste it, I'll definitely not actually BUY another pack" but somewhere in the dream I'm buying another pack and explaining to the cashier that I quit, really, i'm NOT a smoker

i decided at some point that my subconscious could indulge, lol, and stopped giving myself grief over avidly chain-smoking in my dreams

congrats! i quit 4 years ago, exactly March 2020 right before our Covid lockdowns. before that, i was smoke-free since 2016. it's so fucking terrible to smell it now. i hate cigarettes and i hate vapes
