Oh shit, you know what? The captain once talked about how one day they'd replace everyone with computer programs LMAO.
THIS IS FUCKING SAN JUNIPERO: THE CRUISE SHIP.
That was like episode 1.

Well, look - Tristan has a good chance of having a deadly disease (Huntington's) and legit told Max one "have you been in cryo sleep the last five years", Avery... Well, idk about Avery, skip her for a sec (unless she died of appendicitis because she thought it was food poisoning and was being stubborn), the Captain has a broken heart after his wife died, Max had COVID BAD....
They're all living in a computer program of a ship and Total Recall exists! IT WOULD MAKE SENSE. Sort of. I mean, it wouldn't NOT make sense if that ended up being what it was.

Maybe she never got divorced either LMAO.
If they showed us stuff that took place off the ship but not in ports, I might be a little suspicious of my own theory, but you never see them go somewhere in LA LMAO.
But how can you commit suicide in a computer program? Or is it like The Matrix?
TBH having a destination wedding on a cruise ship would be a lot easier if you could just upload everyone into a computer program. But at the same time, how would everyone get sick in a computer program? LMAO. And with diseases that make zero fucking sense in reality...
eta and I was thinking this show has more in common with Rick and Morty than you'd think, but like... Rick and Morty also had a San Junipero episode.

maybe people getting sick is a virus in the system!

I forgot they fucking used Heaven Is a Place on Earth in the FUCKING TRAILERS.
I googled Doctor Odyssey + San Junipero and there are actually a few articles wondering if it is indeed a San Junipero situation. Although, if they did go THAT obvious by using the same song, I would side-eye the hell out of them LMAO.
But what if when the season ends they just get turned off? We don't hear about what they do during that time - at least not from Tristan, Avery, and the Captain. And I think Avery wouldn't just be like 'See you guys in a few months!' this time.
idk it could also always be an isekai - imagine if it's some video game and at the "end of the season" it's a new version of the game released LMAO. Now that would be a stretch. Also Ready Player One-adjacent.

yeah, i can't see avery doing that either, so however they handle that break could be a sign of something!

Maybe the ship is computerized coma therapy and Max is the patient and avery, tristan, and the captain are his therapists and everyone else is just window dressing.

it could be that all the patients they deal with are cases he's had before or are used to just keep his brain active!

Maybe he's keeping them all captive in a simulation and he's actually the villain. But that still doesn't explain the visitors thing. Or people dying. Or plastic surgery week.

Oh, and PS - I want to know how Full House can exist in the Doctor Odyssey universe given John Stamos' guest spot on the show LMAO.

My dad is officially caught up: "Must be one of the strangest shows ever" lmao. THAT is what he has to say.

I still think people who haven't watched an episode have no clue how utterly unhinged this show is and how 1000% departed from reality it is. But now my dad knows what a twunk is.
I mean, it looks like your standard medical procedural with the fun twist that it's on a cruise ship, but noooooo, this show is batshit wild beyond the insane medical issues.
