Honestly this show's been getting worse since Netflix bought it, and I say that as someone who loved the first two seasons and rewatched multiple times. Everyone's a caricature of themselves now, it's ridiculous.

Tbh the only thing I actually loved about part 2 is [Spoiler (click to open)]Axel. And also somehow...Kim Da-Eun? Yeah, I don't get it either. But it was really nice seeing Kim Da-Eun be something other than a poorly written Bond villain in this part. I can't decide how I feel about the Chozen relationship, but I do find it irritating that they have to make every. single. female. character. on this show. the romantic conquest of a male character. Most of whom have big *just some dude* energy.

Which brings me to the Sam/Axel interaction. I don't hate it? I actually think the two of them have more chemistry than Sam has had with any of her other relationships, but I still wish they could find a way to tell interesting storylines for Sam without making it all about her damn dating life. Again.

I hate so many things about this part it's ridiculous. STILL hate Johnny's fix-it baby storyline. Hate that he's "focusing on Robby more" during the Sekai Tekkai, because apparently Robby *has no future*, when he literally exchanged barely five words with him the whole trip. Hate that Carmen has been relegated to the personality-less incubator for Johnny's do-over family. I hate how Miguel has so much plot armor that he practically tanked his way through the whole tournament and barely even took a hit. Hate the Mr. Miyagi's mystery life plot. Hate goofy ass incel Dimitri full stop. Hate how completely nerfed Robby was this whole chapter. REALLY hated the drunken murky-consent hook-up between him and Zara for a number of reasons including but not limited to the fact that it was not necessary, and I'm sick of seeing Tory constantly betrayed by her partners, and it felt kinda rapey tbh (not that I don't fully expect the writers of this show to be the "but men can't be assaulted!" types). I'm hoping they retcon it with him just having passed out and Zara playing it up to get in Tory's head, but I doubt it. Hate the never-ending back and forth between Daniel and Johnny maybe most of all. It's so fucking played out, jfc.

I did enjoy the melée brawl at the end though, despite myself. That ending was hella dark but Kwon did it to himself picking up that knife in the first place. Dare I hope that fucking Kreese might finally see the error of his ways after this? It was nice to see the [mostly] healthy conflict resolution between Kenny and Anthony as well. Amanda is literally one of the only consistent good parts of the show, and I loved her absolutely not parenting approach to Anthony's bullshit lol. Miguel calling Johnny out on the plane didn't suck either, even though it only lasted about two seconds.

Anyone have any predictions/hopes for the final part? Silver is definitely terminally ill, y/y? I really hope we see at least one last flashback to the young!Kreese and Silver era-Barrett Carnahan and Nick Marini are terrific and actually bring some enjoyable pathos to the roles. I'd like to see Axel joining Miyagi-Do, since he's apparently able to travel the world, why not California next? Also, more of the Sam/Axel friendship (emphasis on *friend*)? It would be nice to see a gentle resolution for the abused kid, and Daniel could maybe be a good fit for his sensei since they're clearly never going to revisit the mentorship with Robby. Speaking of mentorships, I would kill to see a Julie Pierce/Hilary Swank appearance in the final go 'round. Tory needs a teacher who isn't a dude stuck re-litigating the glory days (and who has more than the emotional capacity of a teaspoon), or a female Bond villain (more Kim Da-Eun character development would also be welcome, please and thanks!). Give the girl a break (and some hope!) for once. Same with Robby. And Johnny finally making ACTUAL amends with Robby? This is actually my number one request for the end of the show. I...don't hold out a ton of hope we'll see most (if any) of this, but I'm along for the ride for this ridiculous show until the end.

Um, holy shit, sorry for the dissertation? Turns out IJustHaveALotOfFeelings.gif
