https://instagram.com/p/DCPqDoiPcv2 The second half of Yellowstone's 5th season premiered last night. During an interview this morning with Michael Smerconish, Kevin Costner, who plays patriarch John Dutton, admitted he didn't know the show premiered last night, "I've been seeing ads with my face all over the place and I'm thinking 'gee, I'm not in that one, I'm not in this season'"
When asked if he knew the fate of his character, he said he didn't and found out through people who called him.
The episode opens with his body being found by an apparent suicide. Before fans could scream "HOW DID THIS MAN, WHO REFUSED TO GIVE UP THE RANCH AND SURVIVED CANCER, A BLEEDING ULCER AND MUUUUUULTIPLE GUNSHOT WOUNDS COMMIT SUICIDE??" we later learned it was a hit put on him that was "approved" by Sarah Atwood and sort of by Jamie? IDK, the man is dumb af. They decided to make it look like a suicide because apparently an induced heart attack is sketchier.
I know Kelly Reilly's voice was gone by the end of shooting from all her wailing.
The reveal of his body made me think of Succession.
