The huge surge of popularity for the new show was strange to me because DCC: MTT was there all along and it seemed to have a pretty decent audience.
I prefer the older show for a lot of reasons, including the ones you mentioned. We got to see a lot more of the rookie candidates (rather than spending so much time on only a few of them), and we got to see a lot more behind the scenes stuff like auditions and rehearsals. I did not need a zillion hours of interviews with Victoria and Reece. The new show is much more of a reality show format which I don't find as interesting.

I haaate how it reformatted the show to be a semi-dramatic docuseries. MTT was so fun! And fascinating! I looooved watching the auditions. Especially the finals, when they could showcase their routines. There was hardly any dance in the Netflix one. Surely there can be a balance between the two.
Kelli just has such an outdated idea of promotion she never really got the CMT show the kind attention it needed to be a real hit with a wider audience. The DCC should have owned social media from the get go and they were out there doing Belk fashion shows.
I liked the format of the old DCC: Making the Team so much better. This is boring; we only get to see a few of the girls.
Also, Reece is creepy. I'm glad Victoria is gone.
