It seems the singer did not take kindly to Billboard recently confirming the rumors of a management change. In response to Billboard linking the article on their Instagram, she left a comment that made her feelings pretty clear.

Some people on popculturechat were wondering if the split maybe went poorly and that’s why she’s mad but by doing this she’s kinda telling on herself cause no one thought this was odd before she commented on it

So the Streisand effect. The report itself was nothing scandalous, and most people would probably agree that she needs a team that can handle her current career. Hopefully she can get someone in that will be able to help her career.

Yeah basically she Streisand herself. I hope the new management is good with social media and red carpets because Chappell has so much potential but she’s understandably needs help handling all her stuff. I almost find watching her painful cause she reminds me of me and I know if I was her I’d need help in her situation

I want her to do well because I like her music, but she’s not doing herself any favors.

that's what I thought too. most people don't care about management splits at all or pay it a second thought. it's clearly a way bigger deal to her.

From what I read on Twitter the Billboard article was posted after the Grammy nominations were announced and since there was no formal announcement from Chappell or the management team about the split they think this is just another hit piece against her.

Presumably she is in negotiations with potential new management's and didn't tell them she is a free agent already. I don't know if it puts her at a disadvantage in those negotiations but she might believe it does.

That makes sense if she wanted to keep it hush hush, and billboard blew up her spot. So I get her being peeved about that.

This is the best explanation but at the same time the rumor was already strongly out there. I’m pretty sure industry folks knew before this came out. She’s fooling herself if she thinks this article specifically blew it for her.

Idk the rumor has been out there for like a month now, from an actual industry source (former Ticketmaster CEO). I'd say the cat was already out of the bag tbh.

Well it’s media sensationalism at its best, idk why everyone here is acting brand new. This is literally how click bait media works. Instead of congratulating her on the noms (I mean this is sort of breaking grounds for a queer artist) and lifting her up, they’re focusing instead on negative aspects of her career adding further to this narrative that she’s being difficult/ungrateful. Not to mention that this is all unconfirmed and they’re basing their information solely on the fact that the management failed to congratulate her.

I’m just so sick of reading comment after comment from ontders how much she grates their nerves for simply pushing back against the exploitative side of music business.
