ONTD Original: Seven (7) Cozy Mystery Shows to Watch This Season

Nov 08, 2024 18:52

It’s fall/winter which means it’s time to bring out the cozy mysteries.

🍁🍂🍁☕️🍂🍁🍂🪵🔥🪵🍂🍁🍂☕️🍁🍂🍁

🍁Agatha Christie’s Poirot🍁
No cozy mystery list is complete without this classic. Poirot and his impeccable suits hardly need introduction, but please remember he is Belgian, not French. If you can only watch one episode, consider checking out Murder on the Orient Express, Five Little Pigs, or Appointment with Death.

❄️Father Brown❄️
Set in a small British town post WWII, Father Brown is constantly involved (or involving himself) in mysterious deaths and sets out to solve them to help his parishioners and stave off his boredom. With 11 seasons and counting, it will keep you cozied up for the rest of the season.

🍁Ludwig🍁
Reclusive puzzle maker John Taylor impersonates his missing twin brother at his job as a detective to uncover what happened to him. His skillset turns out to be surprisingly effective at solving the mysteries that come his way.

❄️Magpie Murders & Moonflower Murders❄️
Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders are miniseries based on novels by the same name. Each series star Leslie Manville as a book editor and follows two plots, a real life mystery and a mystery within a fictional book series that holds the key to solving the real life mystery.

🍁Mystery Queen🍁
Seol-ok is a housewife and amateur detective with a penchant for solving mysteries. She gets involved with grumpy police detective Wan-seung who helps and hinders her along the way. Not quite as cozy as the rest of this list but it’s my list. PS: Do not watch the second season.

❄️Mystery to Iu Nakare❄️
Set in fall/winter, this Japanese drama is the definition of cozy. It follows a university student who keeps getting entangled in solving crimes for the police when all he wants to do is to eat his delicious pot of curry in peace. This show will also make you crave Japanese curry.

🍁Professor T🍁
Another cozy mystery set in Cambridge. Between this and Ludwig, the murder rate is through the roof there. Ben Miller stars as a genius criminology professor at Cambridge who uses his expertise to consult for the police. (CW: The first episode has a somewhat graphic sexual assault scene in the opening sequence, so feel free to skip it.)
