November 8, 2024 Robert Eggers' Nosferatu is getting positive early reactions.
Variety senior awards editor Clayton Davis called the film “gorgeous and horrifically brilliant,” saying Lily-Rose Depp is “haunting” and Bill Skarsgård is “menacing.”
Los Angeles Film Critics Association member and Variety contributor Courtney Howard said “if you’re not afraid of rats before seeing this movie, you will be now,” along with the note that it “goes harder than any other horror film this year.”
Gizmodo and io9 reporter Germain Lussier gave the caveat that the film is “not my favorite Eggers,” but still deemed the feature a “knockout” with “a hint of devilish humor.”
NOSFERATU is a hypnotic, psychosexual nightmare. Lily-Rose Depp gives a showstopping performance, bolstered by a fantastic Nicholas Hoult.
Bill Skarsgård is incredible and unrecognizable as Count Orlok, his take drawing more from the perverted romance of this dark fable.

November 8, 2024 Nosferatu: strangely comforting this week to watch a film that feels conjured from the darkest depths of pure evil. Eggers' most assured work, one in which you can feel his obsessions flow through every nocturnal frame. Lily Rose-Depp and Bill Skarsgard are out of this world.

November 8, 2024 Nosferatu is unfiltered Robert Eggers. He’s a good match for the material, which he allows to breathe in a way that may test impatient audience members, but rewards those willing to get on his wavelength. Gross and weird, but also classically haunting.
