I want to know what Sasha's mom said to Nancy about Jonathan.
Same. Nancy was clearly upset by whatever Sasha’s mom said and then either Stephen or the book said that they never heard from Sasha or her mom again, which was already suspect at the time.
If you believed Nancy’s book, Sasha and Jonathan were a happy couple who were traveling together, Sasha went hone early because her aunt was sick, Jonathan died alone the day after she left him in Italy, and then her response to his death was complete silence/absence for 20 years? That was already a suspicious conclusion to Sasha’s part in the story.
But once Stephen admitted that Nancy had changed some details and specifically said that Sasha didn’t leave Italy because of a sick aunt, it became even more glaring because that is not information she could have gleaned from Jonathan’s photographs. It had to come directly from Sasha or her mom because no one else could have known why she left Italy.
That all points to Sasha’s mother telling Nancy what really happened (I agree that he probably did something similar to Sasha) and Nancy keeping it a secret from Stephen. Even though I can imagine her being a Boy Mom and claiming that her sweet precious baby boy could never do anything wrong, I think she knew it was true and that’s why she never told Stephen.
