I'm 6 months into K-Pop and feel like I should partake in the other entertainment coming from Korea.

Should I get into K-dramas too?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

lol esp because k-pop idols often record songs (called OSTs meaning Original SoundTracks) for k-dramas AND some idols eventually transition into acting in dramas. So it's kinda related!

Do you have recs for a first-time watcher?

Not the OP, but Crash Landing on You was my very first and remains my favourite K drama of all time. I also love Hometown Cha Cha Cha, Start Up, and 100 Days My Prince. I love a whole lot but those are the ones that come to mind right away lol

Ok lemme give you my faves from across a selection of genres. All of these recs are on Netflix for your convenience. If you don't have Netflix and are fine pirating then lol I can also give you some other suggestions.

Hometown Cha-cha-cha - Romcom type drama where a successful type-A personality dentist from Seoul blows up her life and decides to open a dental clinic in a small seaside town. Her path keeps crossing the local jack-of-all-trades whose laid back attitude towards life perplexes her. Will opposites attract? (of course they will, lol but it's cute!)

Thirty-Nine - Pure drama that will make you bawl your eyes out. The drama centers on 3 women who have been best friends since high school. The year they turn 39, one of them gets a tragic diagnosis. The drama follows them and how their lives change throughout this year.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed - Supernatural drama. The male lead is a nine-tailed fox who works for the gatekeeper of the afterlife, dealing with supernatural/mythic creatures who have been behaving badly. ( ... )

I don't know if you're into psychological thrillers but Beyond Evil had me absolutely hooked until the very end.

someone already mentioned the Reply series which are a must watch and I'd also recommend Hello, My Twenties! I've been waiting for another drama like it but it's never happened again, both seasons are so good 😍

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is my absolute fave heartwarming winter romance. Great to watch when the weather is cold outside!

in all my years as a kpop fan i've never been able to get into k-dramas honestly lol. a lot of them start very strong but very rarely do they not lose steam in the middle. though the best kdrama is "signal". that one is sooo good imo. i also love the "reply" series!

It's not mandatory for you to get into kdramas at all. I've been into kpop since ye olden times and I don't watch them regularly. It's also because I am super picky when it comes to that but I do have to say they have amazing thrillers.
