yes, it’s horrible and scary and utterly exhausting, but we’ll never get to a point where we won’t have to fight for what’s right. there’s never gonna be a time where everyone has all their rights protected forever everywhere.
we just have to do what we can and build community and get away from individualism. it sucks and i wish it was easier but as long as there’s people fighting then there’s always hope and good things worth protecting. it sounds like bullshit but it’s essentially what we live for.

building community doesn’t necessarily have to mean being close friends with your whole neighborhood and agreeing on all things. sometimes just making small talk with the cashier at the store or helping your neighbor move their couch is enough to get it started. and maybe the neighbor doesn’t understand stuff like pronouns or ethnic cleansing, but they think we should just let people live their lives and they help out at the church soup kitchen, and that’s already something! sometimes we get so caught up in the only good people being the ones who are up to date with everything social justice and who only use the right terms all the time that we end up alienating the well meaning people who make up the majority of the population.
