So many White men tiptoeing around that a woman won't get elected cause they don't want to admit themselves and their golfing buddies are anything but the best of society.
Kamala was being called communist all week and you think the Green party gives a shit?
The same thing with the "She laughs too much." reason. People don't want to say they don't want to vote for her because she's not White or a Woman, so they look for other reasons.
if people think she was too liberal it has nothing to do with what she was actually offering, it's either 1) because she was a woman of color and that's what they mean by "liberal" or 2) a failing of the democratic party to communicate her positions because she was not running on anything that wasn't conservative. her whole thing was saying that the cheneys loved her and reagan would've voted for her.
people really wanna think that 9% turnout wise was the key to victory even though i’d bet a disproportionate number of them live in large blue states, but IMO anything she could have done to win them over for real would have bumped that 47% higher. fwiw i do think people read her as more liberal than she was because of her race and gender but i also think a lot of americans really are just that conservative (or were just voting on the general feeling of like “woke has gone too far and the dems must be stopped”… assuming american voters are rational actors is IMO not reflective of the evidence lol)
yeah, i've been really confused about all the people saying "dems need to stop pandering to moderates and start pandering to their actual base!" but like...why would dems not also pander to moderates? most left leaning people will already vote dem, there's far more moderates in this country than true leftists so i understand why they would feel like it's more beneficial to try and sway people in the center than on the left.
ia, it also wasn't really clear what her policies were. I heard very little about taking on price gougers after like one week. She largely came across as a continuation of Biden in an environment where Biden rightfully isn't popular and incumbents worldwide are losing because prices are too high (regardless of whether inflation has been reigned in by now or not).
and i think it was a failure of weak communication from her team but ALSO mainstream media and people not talking about it. she was in a really tought spot bc she had to remain loyal to biden while also trying to offer "change". i really dont think there's anything she couldve done to win once we analyze the voting results per county and state.
and i feel it had to be personal, people simply did not like her bc SHE OFFERED POPULAR POLICIES!!! ALL THE TIME!! and yet it was the cheney endorsement that people keep talking about when she didnt make any concessions. once she offered the expansion of medicare to homecare.. NO ONE TALKED ABOUT IT? Yes, dems need to do a lot of self reflection on strategy but we cannot pretend the american audience isnt stupid af and we give them too much credit to "get it" AND the msm were running against her. they covered her medicare proposal a total of 3 minutes accross all 4 networks. there's a lot to pinpoint but people blaming just kamala is not being critical in good faith imo.
I hate that the educational system is failing people now. They have no idea what communism is.
I have BA in history. I took ancient & medieval philosophy as well as modern political philosophy. I bet none of these people have read Plato, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, Marx, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke etc...
People just think that socialism and communism are bad because of the Red Scare and all that nonsense, but they do not understand what they are at all. If you ask these people what socialism is they have no fucking idea and I find it infuriating. Socialism is not a bad thing. Communism is even good on paper, but has never actually existed as what the "communist" countries have is not real communism.
she ran a hawkish, conservative campaign. the goal shold not be to pander to the electorate but to courageously attempt to win their hearts and minds by running a principled campaign that explains and tackles structural issues.
she has no one to blame but herself and honestly after 4 more years of trump we'll NEED a revolution because the democrats won't offer people shit, again, and it's pretty much already too late from a climate perspective. and if you're in one of the countries affected by america's complicity in genocide, it's been too late for a long time.
it's not idealistic to say something drastic has to give: it's realistic.

Exactly. The 'liberal' ideas they're protesting are that a woman of color is eligible for president.

Which is sad cuz philosophy and critical thinking skills goes hand in hand.
