No need to nasty, y’all picked your winner…All we can do is be hopeful and wish the best. Before Kamala joined the race, we knew how this country is set up and what was probably going to happen but it was so inspiring how she fought and changed so many minds, including mine. pic.twitter.com/pj05rnKY57

No because vote suppression is the worst in those red states and you would be cutting off the under represented minorities that don't have a choice but to live there?

Ummm yeah I don't think you fully understand the complexities of basically telling people "well move or else we are just going to fuck you over." It kind of aligns with another thinking...

A grace period for people to leave their homes, families and any other attachments to move amongst people who resent and look down on them? Who would let them burn out of spite if not for comments like the one above? Who would say they deserve what they get if they stayed?

yes I want the people who are going to be harmed the most to get out of the red states that will further marginalize, and potentially kill them.. jesus christ, yes I"m the asshole in this situation. you're so right.

This is part of the condescension I alluded to. Regardless of your grace period, Mr. Nice Liberal Man, not everyone will leave or even want to. They have lives, families, cultures and ties that they will stick to to the death. They still don't deserve to suffer.

My entire family is Black and from Mississippi. They don't vote Republican but they live in fucking Mississippi, so what are they supposed to do? They don't want to move to California or New York or whatever liberal utopia you envision will arise after secession, regardless of your oh-so-kind offer to allow them a grace period. And they aren't the only ones.

This blue state lib kneejerk reaction of "leave them to rot. we'll see how they like it then." is such baby-brained bullshit. It happens after every election and I'm sick of reading this classist and idiotic take.

So-called Dem cities and blue states aren’t exempt from this widespread bigotry either… I understand emotions are high today but comments like these are unproductive and like bakemonos pointed out, dismiss minorities like myself and our families who cannot afford to leave or be abandoned.

Yeah. This is going to touch us all eventually, playing into divide and conquer isn't helping

Balkanization has been getting mentioned a lot with the US, people need to be careful about what they're saying

i think a lot of americans are not really familiar with the Yugoslav Wars. ugly ugly stuff

I think any US "balkanization" would take a long time, since Americans aren't strongly divided by ethnicity like Yugoslavs were. The politics of the average American are also disjointed and incoherent so political ideology wouldn't work as a singular faultline imo

Most likely outcome is that lot of southern states are going to become uninhabitable due to global warming and then those populations will have to move elsewhere, and who knows how the political landscape will look like afterward.
