I didn't but I got to see Muse instead (who I've loved longer and have wanted to see since before I was a Taylor fan) so I've learned to be okay with it.
my friend managed to get us tickets to the show in our city and it was so much fun- we paid $250 because they were club level seats (aka air conditioned indoor area separate from everyone else with its own bathrooms, bars, merch stands, and food) and i'd pay it again in a heartbeat. taylor and her team design her shows thinking about every seat and it's obvious she trained really fucking hard to give 100% the entire time.
also the merch shirt i got is so soft and comfy, i wear it all the time.
the seats below us in the general bowl were in the low-mid $100s range i think? the prices taylor set were reasonable for a 4 hour show (including the openers), it was ticketmaster and the resellers that were jacking everything up to the moon here in the states.
i wish it wasn't here either 😭 if kamala pulls this off i am fully of the belief there will be more legislation around this because it has gotten ridiculous
American prices are similar. The issue here is that everything sells out in 10 seconds flat, and it's all snatched up by resellers. Who then sell the tickets for $1500. If you managed to buy a ticket at release, then you are fine. But most people could not, and are stuck in a resale market.
Other countries generally have restrictions around such predatory behavior. The US does not. Well, we kind of do, but we don't enforce it. Which is why the big venues are all owned by one company, which is owned by the one company that sells all the tickets, and also owns all the companies reselling the tickets. They get a cut of everything, and thus are highly motivated to encourage the grift.
