as opposed to just talking to her? using media frenzy and speculation as a backdoor way to spy on your girlfriend (fiancee?) is kind of invasive, not cool man. seek help to learn to manage your anxiety in a non-creepy way.

i think he means to make sure everything is good with her (no drama or negative press circulating). imo it would be annoying as fuck for someone to repeatedly ask "hey are you ok?? is anything bad going on????" - i think i'd prefer they just google tbh

not debating there are probably healthier ways to manage anxieties, but this isn't nefarious

It just seems a bit weird to me, to Google your partner in order to get updates on them? Surely that's what private chat is for, and in case of an emergency, as their partner ideally you would be getting a call before anyone else. And even if not, if I were a celebrity I wouldn't want to get news about my partner secondhand from an entertainment site anyway, because it would probably be sensationalised to hell and back.

I think he’s implying that due to her level of fame TMZ would probably pick up on anything notably bad before he would have had the opportunity to be informed by her or family

When my mom takes longer to respond (we live in different states) I check the local news from my home state to see if there’s been an accident or anything of that sort, so my immediate reaction wasn’t that he’s being creepy, it was more of a poor thing, he’s nuts, too.

that's totally fair. i have done that a couple of times when my friends didn't check in after driving home on a night out.

my misreading here was that i interpreted the "making sure we're good" as "phew, we're still together, she didn't cheat on me or break up with me via publicist announcement". i read insecurity in the words, that's my bad. but, in my slight defense, it's not as if 1) men haven't gone on podcasts to say weird shit about their relationships, and 2) celebs/celebs' partners haven't been blindsided by scenarios like this (see: ariana's boyfriend's ex-wife).

evidently, i concluded incorrectly. but it was an honest misreading, not some chronically online hater brainrot as others have suggested (i'll save that for my bitches-eating-cracker, lol).

Since my brother passed I have anxiety when my mom doesn’t respond to me or hasn’t reached out for the day so I check her garage door opener app to see if she’s left home for the day. They used to live together so now she’s alone at her house so it makes me anxious if I don’t hear from her.

There are probably times that they know they'll be unreachable, and celeb news breaks fast. It's also a unique situation to celebs. TMZ and Reddit aren't blowing up if I get in a car accident lol.
