I apparently have a fat neck and can never find necklaces that are at least 20 inches long (I hate chokers or things close to my neck). But surely I'm not the only one with this problem!!! So if I were a celeb I would start a jewelry line for fat neck necklaces only

Extenders! I’m the same way about things touching my neck - I can’t wear turtlenecks or even crew shirts - and extenders have saved me when it comes to wearing necklaces.

I do wear extenders but they are ugly especially if the clasp comes down to the front or if you wear your hair up and everyone can see it. I just want one long chain for the aesthetics

As a fellow fat necker, I learned recently it's really not that expensive to get a simple chain from a jewelry store. I got 3 in different lengths and just put the charm I want to wear that day on the length I want to wear. I think I spent 50€ total?

I get most of my jewelry from etsy since a lot of sellers actually list the metal composition and also they tend to offer multiple necklace lengths/hoop sizes/etc. I get a lot from here since I am allergic to everything but gold/gold fill (vermeil and plating is much too thin) and they allow for custom lengths on everything: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GLDNxLayeredAndLong . But a lot of etsy stores (that are real handmade shops and not just resellers) let you do that.

Oh, I have a ring of theirs favorited and I’m glad to hear they’re pretty good. I’m also pretty reactive to most metals and have learned you’ve really got to have your head on a swivel there-I bought two pieces from a vendor that advertised 14k on top of 925 sterling (which is already kind of risking it for me) and they were very clearly not when they arrived. I was able to get a refund but like c’mon man, I can’t deal with dermatitis rn

My oldest necklace from them I've had for 5+ years and the only wear is on the inside of the clasp (which never touches my skin), so so far they've been pretty solid.
