• Stand-up comedian John Mulaney hosts SNL tonight for the sixth time! He last hosted back in February 2022, but he began working on the show during the 34th season (2008-2009) of the show. Mulaney quickly made his mark as a writer, especially once he began collaborating with Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, and Fred Armisen. He left the show in 2012, though returned for some episodes throughout the 2012-2013 season. The reaction to his cameo in the March 2018 Bill Hader episode led to Lorne Michaels asking him to host later that night.
• In that first episode, Mulaney used the opportunity to bring back a long-shelved piece that would become fondly known as a "Mulaney Musical" piece (originally written for a Zach Galifianakis-hosted episode). After that first episode he pretty quickly became a "Five-Timer", the first of his SNL era to achieve that status.

• Chappell Roan is set to make her first ever appearance on the show. In a sweet throwback post, Chappell shared a screenshot of a Facebook post she made in April 2011 where she said she was "determined" to be on SNL (was it the Elton John episode that encouraged this post? i like to think it was).
• In a stand alone Thursday promo, Mulaney and Chappell had some fun making a reference to Twitter's inability to be normal about them.
• SNL announced their next rounds of hosts. Breaking with the tradition they established in 2016, Dave Chappelle will thankfully not be hosting the post-election episode. Instead Bill Burr will be hosting the November 9 episode - a lateral move imo - with musical guest Mk.gee. And pulling double duty on the show for the first time ever in November 16? None other than Charli XCX.
