The latest craze in Japan right now are the Gochizou, from the newest food-themed tokusatsu series, Kamen Rider Gavv. They are snack like miniature monsters created when the protagonist eats the respective snack, communicating by screams and mass choreography to form symbols to instruct the hero on how to use them. Dying after being used, flying off as souls with wings and halo.
The huge popularity of the critters even took Toei by surprise since the series debut this September, causing a shortage of their merchandise and provoking a rise in scalpers reselling the merchandise, with stores completely selling out in moments, enraging fans of the series.
