i loved that they included all the gay stuff in the show but it really annoyed me how they went off the book's storyline

the book has a plantation owner/enslaver as its main protagonist, im fine with that

There's no way they could have had a white protagonist as a slave owner, it would not have went over well for anyone except die hard book fans that don't want any changes.
