there's a chapter where he does what people consider victim-blaming (he asks a the reader to consider how they got into a relationships with a violent man, and does not do so with much empathy or nuance). part of his perspective comes from being a child of a dv household, and i think it's clear he blames his mom a bit.

you know what...I think I am mixing up Bancroft with the Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker. That's on me, I'm sorry for confusing the issue.

That is the Gift of Fear and it's a really jarring chapter in an otherwise useful book. But you're right I think a lot of it is the author's own baggage.

he's an anti-vaxer unfortunately. But his book on this topic is very good.
