Thank you for making this post, BTS and HYBE fans have been completely muddling the waters on the subject everywhere, so while I wish Seungkwan had never had to be hurt enough he felt the need to speak out, I'm glad it will allow light to be shed on what's going on. He's incredibly brave.
For those who would dismiss the contents of the documents as pannchoa gossip, you can check Asianjunkie. They've been compiling accurate translations. It's 20K pages of a document found during the Korean government's audit of HYBE. And it's all vitriol against other groups mixed with nasty commentary from their own execs and discussion of strategies to use said vitriol to benefit and manipulate public opinion of HYBE's groups.
And Today it was revealed that last year, when there were dating rumors involving Seungwan's fellow Seventeen member Joshua, HYBE decided that to distract the fans Sengkwan should return to work from the break he had been taking to grieve his best friend and fellow idol Moonbin.
I hope this opens up the floodgates on the shit Hybe pulled with BTS and ARMY as well. Hybe could run a masterclass on cultivating parasocial relationships between fans and artists and nowhere have they succeeded more than in getting people to not only stan BTS but also the company behind BTS. They were so good at it that they even managed to turn some ARMYs against Jungkook after he went against Hybe and publicly supported NewJeans, which is just insane when you think about it. Never have I seen such insane levels of company standom as with Hybe.
The idea of bringing Seungkwan back from grieving the loss of his best friend just because of a dating scandal... there has to be something deeply, deeply rotten in the hearts of these Hybe assholes for them to even consider that. I truly hope Hybe goes under ASAP.
Edit: thank you for the alternative source as well! I just went with what was easiest, so I appreciate the help and information.
I've been around since ~2011, so while I admit that I could certainly be wrong (especially since I never participated in fandoms and online fan spaces), I think two things can be true: that kpop companies (especially big ones, like SM, JYP, YG, etc.) have always had stans but also that Hybe took things to a new level.
In retrospect, ha suffer Kris Wu... but the way fans ripped in to EXO's China line and sided with SM's greedy ass? Especially knowing the injuries Tao got and how SM gave no fucks. And after all this shit that came out about SM and LSM a few years ago, after all these damn years ok knowing SM ain't shit, the ways EXO-L's still behave and whiffle waffle back and forth now with Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin's situation with SM? Disgust me to me core.
It's incredibly telling to see the people who were saying Jungkook should have just kept quiet and the worst possible shit about Hanni are now praising Seungkwan because they think they can twist his words to accuse only the fans and not the company.
btw I only gave you emojis because talking to you biased company stans is a lost cause. Trying to pin it all on MHJ as if the fact that she refused to participate in the toxic company culture exposed n these documents while having her work bastardized on top of it was not the only reason anyone is getting to find out just how rotten HYBE is in the first place.
I literally just asked you for a source on the documents coming from the South Korean government auditing hybe. Which you couldn't provide even if you wanted to because that's just a straight up lie 😂
"Trying to pin it all on MHJ as if the fact that she refused to participate in the toxic company culture exposed n these documents while having her work bastardized on top of it"
LMAOOOOOO omg she literally called newjeans members fat fucks. Like you can not make this shit up. My friend, you are the lost cause, I fear ☹️
what point are you trying to make then? because the author's aka HYBE's reflections on incel hate comments about other artists are equally as hateful/nonsensical as the comments themselves. there are multiple issues at play here -> the fact that they're using hate comments as the vast majority of their basis for "analysis" + the fact that their analysis on the hate comments echoes the sentiment of the hate comments rather than being...yknow...actual analysis + the fact that some of the "analysis" isn't even rooted in internet comments like it's straight up the author's opinion that anton from riize is a shit dancer who makes all of riize look bad...which has nothing to do with hybe artists and is not meaningful information to hybe.
But in the same vein, could you just be having k-pop goggles on to dismiss that a company that has already being outed by themselves as ruthless and shit talkers would not write these kind of things? Hybe had already admitted to dismissing and slandering NewJeans in Japan. Not to mention how they outed their own villainy when they tried to take over SM .
I'll agree this could be all hearsay. And I'm weary of fan translations because they often are translated to suit the translators desired message rather than the actual message. But to dismiss the documents as ~OBVIOUSLY~ AI deep fakes and to say that anyone with half a brain knows who the "whistleblower" is is just as equally having k-pop goggles on. No large corporation or rich person is above doing some shady shit, and absolutely not the hill worth dying on. Documents outing companies as being awful when they have pushed a person (or persons) too far or they have done too many awful things do happen. Unfortunately, in this case it's probably just the case of this happening for all
( ... )
It's not hearsay though. The document is real. It's just people don't know how to read it and differentiate what is copy and paste from Kpop fans and what is written by hybe. It's a document that was sent to the executives at different sub labels weekly. It's a very small pool that has their hands on these reports. That's made obvious because in the history of Kpop this is the first time one has leaked from any company, past or present. This wasn't cc'd to every hybe employee lol And these reports aren't special or unique to hybe.
Who has something to gain from this leaking? And I never said anything about it fake? So idk why you are bring that up.
"Hybe had already admitted to dismissing and slandering NewJeans in Japan."
You mean where a reporter published that newjeans had sold 1 million copies of their Japanese debut in Japan and someone at hybe corrected them that it was 1 million ww and 200,000k in Japan? (numbers could be off. I just remember the discrepancy being large).
You said complied by AI. To me it seemed as if you were inferring that it fake.
You're coming off as very double speak. Oh it's real, but fans are gleaning it for what they want. Do you mean they are translating it in ways that benefit their faves/fandom? Or the fans are omitting parts of a quote/text to make Hybe seem bad/worse?
tbh Yes, Min Hee-Jin has the most to gain. But considering one of the leaks finger pointed at Hybe being the one who leaked the Seunghan dating stuff SM also has to gain, because despite it being their fault for not protecting Seunghan and letting crazy stans win and boot him out, SM now has the luxury of Hybe being a villain and being finger pointed at as the originator of the problem. Also Hybe tried to take over SM. I'm not being tinhat about this, but I'm just saying there are multiple parties here who benefit from Hybe being thrown in the clown car and headed to the flaming big top circus of court.
I am not coming off as very double speak. It is compiled by AI. That doesn't mean it's fake. Just google the programs that run these analysis.
