Queen of the Damned is her favourite movie? Really?

The soundtrack was awesome but that was a terrible movie.

I’m seeing an increasing amount of barely-ironic praise for that movie lately, I feel like it’s the equivalent of gen z saying they like twilight to be funny but also wanting you know they’ve done a lot of coke and are hypothetically edgy enough to be into knife play or something

Aaliyah's scenes are the only good thing about the movie besides the soundtrack.

I remember seeing that movie when I was 12 and I could tell within the first 2 minutes that it was gonna be awful. Aaliyah's scenes along with the soundtrack were the only more easily digestible things

I rewatched recently after going through the tv series and I do remember vaguely liking it in a "this is terrible but kind of fun" way years ago. It does not hold up, especially after getting such a great tv adaption. Making Jessie the love interest is still such a choice and not a good one.

She's in the books and she's a bit older (30s?) and has a bit more going on. Like she has some supernatural abilities of her own, before being turned. I don't believe it's Lestat that turns her but it does happen around the concert. There's nothing romantic between them in the book. They're doing a Talamasca series so hopefully she gets a better screen adaption there.
