I wonder if people will cancel their prime accounts too. That would hurt him more than cancelling WaPo.

They won’t. People don’t like to be inconvenienced when it comes to their entertainment - as evidenced by all those who complain about Netflix’s support of transphobic male comedians and Spotify’s support of Joe Rogan, but still have Netflix and Spotify accounts.

Same thing with people who were mad at r*ssia and boycotting them/companies owned there, but still use livejournal.

I did this years ago and was recently thinking about caving... glad I did not!

On the rare occasion I need to order something from Amazon, I always get free shipping anyway.

I’ve been using them less and less lately and opting for other online retailers.

They are impossible to avoid so any sort of effective boycott is not realistic.

Just like how in many communities Walmart is the only place to shop and they have no other options.

it's amazing how much amazon prime is really not needed for the vast majority of people*. you still get free shipping (i think the threshold is like $35?) and it still arrives earlier than you planned. you don't even get to watch stuff without ads!

*for temporarily and/or permanently disabled people, the quick shipping, broad product availability, grocery delivery service, etc can be hugely beneficial, and i'd never judge them for using it

Canceled Prime years ago and never looked back.

i need to cancel mine. it's frustrating how much amazon has become embedded in our lives. it's so much easier to get stuff off amazon and there's a lot of things that i can only really get on there. amazon owns whole foods and mgm now too, ugh.

It’s awful how a handful of companies pretty much run everything, and they know it. It’s so frustrating.

It's frustrating to me too. My health has taken a nose dive and I'm completely reliant upon Walmart delivery because I physically can not get out. I hate being stuck using such a shit company and when you try and say you're stuck people will act like there are options and I'm being complaint. There are just some people who are stuck with these shitty options and there's no way out.

Prime sucks so much now and there's so many cheaply made products being hawked on Amazon.

AND counterfeit products being fulfilled by third party sellers. heard a story today about one closing and liquidating their stuff bc of how much money they've lost due to amazon burying their listings anyway. the sellers and the customers are getting fucked. amazon only cares about amazon.
hit em where it hurts imo
I don't trust a beauty product, sunscreen, medical product, article of clothing, or home product on there to be the genuine article anymore. it's not worth the hassle to even go on there and try to figure out which 1 in 1000000000 versions of the exact same piece of shit whatever is actually not a hunk of junk.
this world is bullshit. buy handmade, buy homemade, buy local when and IF you can. and trust me, I live somewhere that doesn't even have a walmart, so I can say this with my full chest. you can pretty much do without most shit if you have to actually think about it past pressing "buy with 1-click".

I admit, I only buy books and dog food from Amazon because so many things are third party/people complaining it's fraudulent. Nope.

I get The Coffee I Like (with caps because it's so fancy...not at all really, but I can't find it locally) and Kindle books. I feel so damn guilty not buying actual books but I have some issues holding a longer read. that said, not that you asked, but I am such a lost little pop culture nerd that I need bookstores. I need record stores. if they don't exist, I have nothing to do BUT go to walmart/amazon. i'm so grateful I have access to some really great haunts.

I used to get Jacob's instant (a German brand) from them but then the prices got higher. Then they switched to selling cantainers and people started to complain that what they were getting wasn't Jacobs, so I switched over to njoybettercoffee.com, which specializes in european coffee. Bigger selection of instant coffees and other varieties, and higher quality. TBH, I would only trust Amazon with books, and the only reason why I get doggy food from them is Dog's on a stomach sensitive diet and can't handle pork products, and the food comes directly from Purina.
