October 28, 2024Jay Johnston, an actor with recurring roles in comedy shows like Bob's Burgers and Arrested Development, was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for his role in the January 6th capitol attack. He was identified in footage from the rioted and fired from his role as Jimmy Pesto in Bob's Burgers in 2021, before he was arrested for his participation in June 2023.
Johnston flew from LA to DC on January 5th specifically to attend the rally, and watched the riot begin before using a stolen riot police shield to make a line against the police, and participating in a crowd push that pinned a police officer. Later, he made light of his role by saying the media was exaggerating the events of the day, saying that it was a set-up, and even dressed up as the QAnon Shaman for Halloween.
Johnston's lawyer argues that his client is being made an example of because he is "an acclaimed Hollywood actor" and says that he's been blacklisted. Sad!
