I can't remember ever seeing another anthem being sung by just one person tbh (except at the olympics opening/closing ceremonies).
It is either the band/orchestra playing with a full choir singing, or no one is singing it (except maybe the public).

(also obligatory, never gets played during regular games, only during international ones and I don't think I ever had to sing it at school either).

It’s part of Canadian sports culture too. And we sing it in schools every morning.
