Damiano David published his first solo single titled “Born With a Broken Heart” The video seems to pay homage to Gene Kelly‘s musicals He hasn’t left Maneksin, this is a side project
Okay so I'm a huge fan of Maneskin and of him, but I'm going to be honest...I think he's trying to be Harry Styles now. I know he loves Harry and naturally he'd want to have a career like him but I'm not a fan of this direction. I want Damiano to go back to dancing on a pole while singing crazy ass notes and rock music, that's what sets him apart. Like these two songs he has now can be sung by anyone, there's nothing unique about them. 😅
Like obviously, he has such a great voice and he can sing anything and I'll enjoy his voice in any capacity, but the English songs for both him and Maneskin are so fucking basic and it makes me kinda sad lmao. Like you have this insane talent and you give him such basic, forgettable songs. I can't.
I did enjoy "Honey! Are you Coming?" and "I Wanna Be Your Slave" and thought they were catchy, but their Italian songs were much better in general :(
But seeing the success of Harry's most generic album, I guess this is a good business move...I just don't like it personally. I like when artists keep their personalities.
their last album was such a disappointment to me, they regressed sonically quite a bit. maybe it's good they've gone off in different directions with their solo stuff, hopefully they get this re-treaded ground out of their system and actually put something interesting again as a band.
honestly, i don't blame them so much. they're crazy young still, they need more time to absord and synthesize different musical and artistic influences.
