October 25, 2024 Multiple fast food chains have removed onions from their menus in some locations, this after an E. coli outbreak was linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder and its onions. At least 75 people got sick in 13 states, including one death, federal health officials confirmed on Friday.
22 people have now been hospitalized, and two have developed a dangerous kidney disease complication, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed.
Clarissa DeBock, 35, sued McDonald’s on Thursday, seeking compensation for lost wages, medical bills and physical and emotional suffering. “It’s just scary, I guess, just because you trust them as a fast-food place,” she said. “You’re putting your trust in them to provide safe food.”
McDonalds has pulled their Quarter Pounder from the menu in 10 states.
Two lawsuits have been filed against the fast-food giant after the CDC announced it was investigating an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders.
