People were digging up all sorts of shit about him. And I mean make no mistake I'm not defending him, but he is a leftist and my understanding is some of the stuff from live performances (which I think is what you're referring to) is him making a statement on things, I think one was the Heil Hitler salute which did have a larger context to it but ofc we didn't get that in ~the discourse~, just a still image.

Anyway yes the album tries to lay it out like he just ghosted her again as he did back in 2014 (Question...?) but back then it was her PR telling her she couldn't publicly be with someone battling a heroin addiction at a crucial point in her career, so she chose fame and fortune over him. And this time around, despite the best efforts of her PR to sanitise it, her fans were writing open letters, vocally calling her out and even leaving the fandom - LOTS of comments in her sub, which she/her team definitely read lol, about 'I've got Eras tickets, I'll still go but I'm gonna pull back from the fanbase bc of this'.
