Seeing Zerxus made me so emotional. I like the world and lore of CR but I like the personalities of D20 more. Not to say I dislike any of them, I watch both although not super regularly. My ultimate public ttrp is Worlds Beyond Number rn. I'm btoh excited and sad WWW is taking a break after this season.

I was very surprised to see Zerxus, but in a good way! I don't really watch D20. I respect it, immensely, but I don't want to rabbit hole down another tabletop thing that contains a significant amount of content.

They're much shorter but also a very different vibe because of it. If Critical Role is a RP-focused TTRPG, I'd say D20 is more adventure based. Because of the nature of having 4-6 episodes for season it's really more of an adventure quest

Hmm, the prospect of no "shopping episodes" (or other episodes where there's very little action) does appeal.

I have recently started D20 (going as chronological as I can and apparently that drives the friends who have seen some of that content nutsXD) and I love how different it is. The shorter campaigns and wildly differnt worlds are awesome and still just as rich as the CR world.

I do appreciate Brennans ruthlessness as a DM, Matt pulls punches at times too but Brennan DMs only to pull punches XD

I have World Beyond Numbers bookmarked on Spotify, it's completely to listen to right? I am intrigued because of the cast but have not read anything about it and will eventually go in pretty blind.

Yeah. So the first story is quite traditional high fantasy except it lacks different fantasy races (it's more like fairy lore in terms of rules of the realm). I really like it although it is very much world building meant to be a long campaign. There are less roles than a regular D&D campaign so if you are expecting that you won't necessarily get it. There are extras in the Patreon but they're very much extra content. They have a children's adventure that informs some of the character decisions that 'dont make sense' if you are a min maxer but it's not necessary

Sounds like it could be fun and being a little bit different can't hurt, I'll definitely keep it in my list so when I worked my way through my podcast backlog I can get right to it :D
