I will never understand why some celebs lie about their beginnings when in this day and age everyone can check if they're lying lmao
Because of all the Lisa Marie posts I fell down a Riley Keough rabbit hole and her bestie is someone named Georgie Flores who claims to be 28 but is in childhood pictures all over instagram with Keough (35) and looks a lot taller than her. Like sure, some kids grow faster than others but there's no way she's 7 years younger than Keough.
lol wow there's no way Georgie was born in 1996, she's trippin if she thinks people believe that. in this pic, riley's what, 10-12 years old? so it's 1999-2001; if Georgie were 28 years old, she'd be a preschooler in this pic. what a crazy thing to lie about.
iirc halsey said she was homeless and she was couch surfing, and i guess unless youre literally sleeping on a street youre not homeless to some people? i couldve gotten that totally wrong though, i dont follow her, i just remember comments about it here
Yep, she made being homeless a huge part of her origin story. But it turns out she comes from an affluent family and was just staying with friends for a while.
i think most "homeless" people in US are not sleeping on the streets. Most are, in fact, staying with friends or family ("couch surfing"), sleeping in their cars, or living in extended stay hotels and shelters.
I don't know anything about Halsey's situation, but i think a teenager who does not have a home to go to, and is staying at a friend's house without a dedicated bedroom would qualify as homeless.
Like, even a rich kid who was kicked out of their house for being trans, and who is now staying in a friend's apartment is experiencing a hardship in my book (not saying this was Halsey's situation, just pointing out nuance).
Contrast this situation with someone like Donna Tartt, who has grown up in a Mississippi Delta in a lower middle class family. She attended collage on a scholarship, and spent some years after graduation living in her rich friends' homes as a house guest while writing her first book. Obviously, it is very hard work to write a good book, and I love "A Secret History." But she technically could have said she was "
( ... )
Rich people love poor people cosplay to promote that myth of the boot straps successor story. Like it's somehow endearing but it's all just a caricature of what being poor actually means
On one hand, it is not too surprising. But on the other, i really like her, so it is kinda disappointing :-(. But also, she was pretty young then, right?
I'm not sure if this is true but I vaguely remember Halsey lying too, someone can correct me if I'm wrong lmao
