Yeah, I am friends with a lot of Ariana stans irl (including my own sisters… sigh! So I’ve heard all the Arianator excuses!!!! 😭😭😭) and like, idk, there’s definitely a personality type associated with stans of each artist. for example not all Swifties but a lot are white girls who love playing the victim and are prone to saying borderline racist things so I have to proceed with caution lol, while I find Arianators usually more chill and bearable until the topic of Ariana comes up and then all the excuses start! I think the fact that she is openly terrible and doesn’t hide it is exactly why she gets away with it. If you’re someone who presents yourself as the wholesome girl next door any little scandal can take you down, but if you present yourself as a baddie people just kind of accept it as part of your image. Whenever someone on ONTD complains about such and such artist getting backlash for something and such and such artist not getting backlash for the same thing, I kinda have to roll my eyes because it always, always comes down to how you present yourself and what audience you cultivate as a result. Re: Ariana if you cultivate an audience of people who are living vicariously (sometimes ironically, sometimes seriously) through you being spoiled and rich and doing whatever you want and always getting away with it, it’s obvious why she’s getting away with so much. And yes, unlike Taylor, she’s much better at lying low to avoid overexposure. She’ll probs go back into hiding after this press tour.
Since we mentioned Taylor, I kind of feel like she did want to move away from the girl next door image and she understands this trap I mentioned above. Which is why she went all in on Matty and now she’s kind of dressing like an Instagram baddie. But it’s a little late because she already has that massive audience who was attracted to that girl next door image. As annoying as she is, I do feel a little bad that she’s trapped in a marketing decision her team probably made for her when she was a teenager, though at the same time, she’s profited massively off it and she is a grown adult who could walk away from it at any time as hard as it is so it’s not something to lose sleep over.

Imagine on Jimmy Fallon is one of my fave performances from her! Whistle registers @2:48!!
Truthfully I don't think I've come across too many arianators (I will her, Rihanna and Selena got the worst fanbase names) or find them annoying compared to Swifties and Barbz who are straight up deranged lol (although I saw some footage of the Barbz at her miami show and their aesthetic is nice I'll give them that). So I agree that they're pretty chill and bearable. Fandoms reflects their idol most of them time I feel.

I agree. You are what you put out there. Plus some celebs are more PR-savvy than others and get with a lot more as a result. Again the Ariana vs Taylor comparison....if not for Wicked we would not be Ariana at all except on her IG and even then she's not even talking just dropping pics or promoting her makeup brand/perfume. So she's gotta handle on fame whereas Taylor requires so much more...like the cup is never full enough for her! Which as much as a narcissist as she is no way that isn't causing her major mental issues cause none of that is remotely healthy!
I feel like Taylor was trying to move away from the girl-next-door image too during Rep cause the LWYMMD music video had her in the dominatrix outfit because I was like ":O OMG she's showing cleavage!!" but she didn't follow up with it I guess since that album didn't do as well as she wanted cause Lover and Folklore outfits was her usual safe looks/aesthetics.
I conflict when it comes to Taylor cause on hand I do think her parents did a number on her and def pushed her to succeed. I even look at weight as consequence of that cause she's always thin and toned while her family are all fat and untoned lol....like if she wasn't a huge pop star she'd most likely be as chubby as them!! So I do feel sorry for her in the sense that she's always had to maintain a certain image and look from a very young age.
On the other hand....Taylor is just as calculated and very involved in her image and was an active player in a lot of that decision-making. Taylor is also 34 going on to 35, she's not that 17-year old newbie anymore, she's a billionaire now who is capable of making those big-girl decisions and is clearly heavily involved when it comes to the boyfriends promo cycle. Taylor's biggest problem is that the cup is not full enough for her AND she's afraid of being replaced by the new girls....even thinking about it I feel like it probably bothers her that the new girls don't have to work as hard as she did to be successful.
Like everything with Taylor has to be a BIG EPIC WAVE when it comes to her albums whereas the other girls they don't need that. Billie is a 2x Oscar winner at 22, Olivia is already a Grammy winner, Sabrina and Chappell are already on their way to Grammy wins, Charli won the summer and is the current cool party girl with brat....Taylor's commercial success and achievements aren't threats or roadblocks for these girls (and future girls) no matter how many times she tries to block their #1s lol. And best part is none of them have to rely on heavily curated image to the degree Taylor heavily relied on hers and have already matured faster than Taylor's 16 year old safe girl-next-door-image. Taylor's issue is that lack of maturity in her presentation.
