When Zack in Bones was suddenly a murderer. And Landry from FNL too.

Also still think it's stupid af that HIMYM spent the entire series showing us that Ted and Robin were not a good match, and then they just… ignore all of that in the last couple of minutes of the season finale.

No matter how many years pass, I will always be pissed at how the show treated the mother. Robin couldn't give him what he wanted, so he had kids with somebody else. Then they kill the mother and he goes to Robin, cheered on by the kids. The show also did a great job at showing us why Ted and Robin did not work.

I remember how relieved I was by Ted finally letting go of Robin, with her floating away, and then they went back to square 1.

I'm still going on about it this long later because it was such *awful* writing. The pacing was beyond terrible. We'd just spent an entire season having the show invest the audience in Robin and Barney's marriage, with huge emphasis on how wrong she was for Ted... and it's not like the audience had ever really invested in Robin and Ted either, they weren't Ross and Rachel. Undoing an entire season in under five minutes to make her end game was an insane choice.

And that's insane by itself, never mind when you put it in context that it was done at the expense of wrecking the pay off everyone had actually been invested in for the entire length of the show

Yeah I think they could have gotten away with it if the ENTIRE SEASON leading up to it hadn't been Robin & Barney's wedding lol. Like it was just horribly executed.

It still pisses me off because Robin was my fave and while I didn't like Barney as a character, I though Barney and Robin together made sense. The sheer character regression. Ugh. I can't. I'm glad they all got their money and that Cristin Milioti got recognition for her performance (I'm a sucker for Broadway actors, loved Once, and she also crushed it on 30 Rock so I was super stoked when she was cast on HIMYM). Other than that, fuck the ending.

I don't care if it was "the ending we wrote from the beginning", things change over time when actors bring in aspects to characters that the writers didn't think of at the start, even before casting. You CHANGE THINGS UP to account for the internal logic of where the characters are! You don't just throw everything out the window in a last minute pivot JUST BECAUSE "It was meant to be this the entire time!". Either you make sure you kept everyone on that same path the entire time (which they didn't) or you CHANGE YOUR ENDING.

It's ironic to me that the fandom at large liked Tracy/Cristin, they actually pulled the mother reveal off and then ruined it.

It's honestly remarkable how they ruined the legacy of their show within a few minutes, even the spin off got buried for years because of the backlash.

The fandom adored Tracy, they actually found somebody Ted had chemistry with and it made sense for her to be the mother. Over the years the kids were often bored by having to listen to Ted's stories and it's like, you were bored about how your dad met your dead mom? In the end the mom was just a plot device and it was just disrespectful, not sure how they ever thought this would go over well.

I absolutely believe Zack was written off the show because the actor was open and honest to the show runners about his bi-polar diagnosis. Companies will preach mental health and acceptance but you better not have any of your own.

The theory is they did that because everyone thought it was obvious that Dr. Sweets was going to be revealed as the killer. And they changed things when the audience guessed who it was & they wanted an element of surprise.

This stupid plot twist is why I stopped watching the show. And from what I've heard about what happens later, I'm glad I did.
