I don’t know if this had been posted but Cheryl posted a statement. She shouldn’t even have to say half of it but people are terrible.

That's a great picture of him and Bear. Hope she has that one framed and put in a prominent place in his room.

What a great statement (though she shouldn’t have to say it) but those who she is speaking to won’t hear it.

I feel so terrible for her. The biggest tragedy in all this is that there’s a little boy who has to be told his father is dead, and will grow up hearing the stories and the sadness surrounding that death. Makes me think of Michelle Williams and everything she must have gone through when Heath Ledger died.

I’m glad she called out the media. Feel like British media is so vulture-like.

A great statement. Sad to think she has to plea for people to remember their humanity and that there are actual people involved.

Yeah I’m so confused it’s also the number one comment on her post

Her entire post reads as a response to folks who dare Maya’s allegations.

My heart breaks for Cheryl and what she has to navigate with her child in the wake of their dad’s tragic passing. She truly seems like a lovely person, a lovely mom that is now dealing with the unimaginable. But her words in her post seem really pointed in a way Thai just makes me sad.

i’m pretty sure her comments are more about people sharing the post mortem photos tmz published in public spaces, not maya’s comments/allegations.

I initially thought that too, but on closer read her statement mentioned content people were posting over the past couple of days, whereas Maya's allegations came out weeks (months?) ago. I think she was specifically referring to speculation about his death and/or the pictures people were circulating.

She is team "the father of her son fucking died".

She is just asking people to give everything a grace period and that her son is at an age where he could potentially read all the comments. Is that really necessary for a 7-year old to know? I don't think so. My mother let me know how scummy my grandfather was when I was older than that age, as she didn't want to taint my image of him when I was a child.

There's still plenty of time for a child to make up their mind about a problematic parent years later, not immediately after they died.

You downvoted me but this is a really thoughtful response and agree with…well…everything you said?

I can’t imagine what she is dealing with right now - both personally and having to navigate this with her son. She is clearly devastated for their child and can appreciate doing everything I can as a parent to protect my child.

I’ll be honest and say what I’m grappling with is the fact that Maya came forward with her story so recently. What she experienced is so harrowing and so fresh in my mind. Now, she’ll never have an opportunity to get justice.
